Mambooks is an Australian independent publisher of children's
picture books that celebrate early learning.
We believe that independent artists and creators should
have equal agency to offer their work to the community.
We believe that children's literature should be widely
reviewed in all media by adults and children.

Adults admire their environment; they can remember
it and think about it; but the child absorbs it. The things that
the child sees are not just remembered; they form part of their
soul. The child incarnates all in the world and all that the eyes
see and the ears hear. This vital kind of memory, which does not
consciously remember, but absorbs images into the individual's
very life, has been given a special name by Sir Percy Nunn, who
calls it the "mnene". One example of this, as we have
seen, is language. The child does not "remember" sounds
but incarnates them, and can then produce them to perfection.
